The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) classified today several Algarve municipalities with "high" and "very high" rural fire danger.
The municipalities of Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, and Tavira were classified with "very high" rural fire danger.
With "high" danger are Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Alcoutim, Castro Marim, and Vila Real de Santo António. Portimão, Lagoa, Albufeira, and Faro present "moderate" risk.
Rural fire danger is determined by IPMA through five levels, from "reduced" to "maximum", taking into account factors such as air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation recorded in the previous 24 hours.
