A 40-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police in Lagoa, Algarve, for allegedly attempting to kill two housemates with a penknife approximately 10 centimeters long, during an argument motivated by religious issues. The two victims, aged 42 and 35, were struck in several areas of the body, including one who received eight blows to the abdomen, cervical area, and chest, causing lung perforation. Both survived thanks to timely hospital care and had to undergo emergency surgery in intensive care. The suspect was charged with two counts of qualified attempted homicide and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, and was brought before a judge for the first appearance for the application of coercive measures.
