The initiative, which results from the amendment to the caregiver respite ordinance, is based on two pillars: a Social Services Exchange, which allows the person being cared for to attend day centers, CACI or home support services, and a Volunteer Exchange for short-term absences. The protocols with the municipalities will be signed in September, with the expansion of the measure to other municipalities expected.

Salesians: Father José Clemente dos Santos has passed away

Father José Clemente dos Santos, a Salesian priest from Machico, Madeira, died on Wednesday at the age of 88. Ordained in 1968, he dedicated his entire life to the service of God and the Church in the Salesian Congregation, exercising his ministry in various communities in Madrid, Mogofores, Funchal, Macau and Estoril, having also been a military chaplain in Mozambique. About four years ago, he was at the Salesian Community of Évora, where he continued to exercise his ministry. The Archdiocese of Évora expressed deep sorrow at his death. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 3pm, at the Church of Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora-Salesianos, after which the body will be taken to Madeira.
