Nepal: New provisional toll points to 392 dead

At least 392 people died and around 1,400 are missing following the devastating flood on the border between Nepal and Tibet, China. In Nepal there are 389 dead and at least 910 missing, while in Tibet there are at least three dead and around 558 missing. Among the missing are more than 500 foreign citizens, including three Portuguese (a fourth was found alive), 178 Indians, 53 Ukrainians, 35 Australians and 33 British. US authorities indicated that at least 90 American citizens are missing. Rescue operations involve nearly 13,300 personnel who have already rescued 796 people by helicopter and 756 by land. Chinese meteorological authorities warned of new rainfall over the next three days that could hinder rescue efforts and increase the risk of further landslides.
