The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued a yellow warning for hot weather that was extended until Saturday. Initially, the warning covered 11 districts, but was expanded to 14 districts on the Portuguese mainland. This yellow warning means there are potentially dangerous meteorological conditions, although of moderate level, that require attention from the population. The measure aims to alert citizens to the risks associated with intense heat during this period.

The sky turned pink in China: the impressive phenomenon that appeared before a strong storm

A rare meteorological phenomenon painted the sky in intense pink and red tones over Changzhou, in Jiangsu province, China, on the morning of August 31. The spectacle lasted about seven to eight minutes and was followed by a strong storm. The spectacular coloring did not originate from any extraordinary phenomenon, but resulted from the combination of the Sun's position, high humidity, and water particles and droplets present in the atmosphere, whose contrast with the storm clouds made the landscape even more impressive. The moment was quickly shared on social media by local residents.
