The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts for today on the Portuguese mainland mostly clear or clear skies, with mist or fog in some locations on the North and Central coast. The wind will be light and dust in suspension is also expected in the air.
Temperatures will rise across the mainland territory, prolonging the heat wave that has been felt over the past few days. This intense heat is expected to persist until the weekend, keeping temperatures high during this period.
The IPMA has also issued a yellow warning for several districts across the country, covering more areas than before. This warning refers to the adverse weather conditions associated with intense heat.
The yellow warning, which represents the second level of danger on the three-level scale used by the IPMA, alerts to the need for caution regarding the high temperatures expected for the coming days.
