IPMA raised the number of districts under yellow warning from 14 to 17, with the warning expected to be in effect until 9 PM this Saturday. The measure represents a worsening of meteorological conditions in Portuguese territory.
The districts covered by the yellow warning include Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga. In these regions, the meteorological institute warns of the occurrence of thunderstorms.
In addition to thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and wind gusts between 70 and 90 kilometres per hour are forecast. These conditions represent a significant risk for populations and outdoor activities in these areas of the country.
