The municipality of Arronches has become part of the 'Stay Cool' Climate Shelters Network, developed by Turismo de Portugal within the framework of the Agenda for Climatic Action in Tourism 2030. This network aims to provide prepared spaces to respond to extreme heat episodes.
The main objective of the program is to protect the population, particularly the most vulnerable people, during periods of high temperatures. The climate shelters function as safe spaces where citizens can find relief and adequate conditions during heat waves.
Turismo de Portugal is the organization responsible for developing this network, which is part of a broader strategy for adaptation to climate change in the tourism sector. The initiative recognizes the need to prepare communities and infrastructure for the challenges posed by global warming.
