The district of Aveiro is among the regions covered by a yellow warning issued by the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere. This classification represents a moderate risk and indicates that weather conditions require special attention from the population.
IPMA warned of the occurrence of thunderstorms in the district of Aveiro. This meteorological phenomenon, characterised by lightning and thunder, can pose significant dangers, including the risk of flash floods and falling trees.
In addition to the thunderstorms, heavy rainfall is expected in the region. Intense rains can cause rapid water accumulation on public roads and increase the flow of streams and watercourses.
The IPMA yellow warning also mentions the possibility of wind gusts between 70 and 90 kilometres per hour. These gusts can cause property damage, such as falling branches or lightweight structures, and make pedestrian and road traffic difficult.
