Rio de Janeiro is facing a high severity alert for rain and winds this Saturday (5). The Centro de Operações Rio (COR) published a weather warning in the early afternoon alerting to the action of areas of instability associated with the displacement of a cold front over the city, which despite having started with sunny weather and isolated showers, should have a significant worsening in weather conditions throughout the day.
The weather forecast indicates moderate to heavy rain showers between this Saturday night and Sunday dawn, accompanied by lightning and wind gusts that can vary from moderate to very strong, reaching speeds between 50 km/h and 80 km/h.
According to the Sistema Alerta Rio, starting Sunday morning (6) the rain should lose intensity, but there is still a forecast of light to moderate rain and predominantly moderate winds, with speeds between 18.5 km/h and 51.9 km/h for the rest of Sunday.
