Seventeen districts of mainland Portugal are today under yellow warning due to adverse weather conditions, including intense heat, thunderstorm, heavy rain and wind gusts.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued warnings for the districts of Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga, alerting to the occurrence of thunderstorm, heavy precipitation and wind gusts between 70 and 90 kilometers per hour.
The yellow warnings are the second least serious on a three-level scale and indicate a risk situation for certain activities dependent on weather conditions.
The affected population should take precautions and follow the updated forecasts from IPMA for the coming days.
