Faro District under yellow warning today and tomorrow due to hot weather

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere extended today the yellow weather warning until Saturday, expanding it from 11 to 14 districts, including Faro in the Algarve. The warning came into effect at 10am today and will last until 7pm on Saturday.

Among the districts covered are the Algarve, Bragança, Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Coimbra and Portalegre. Temperatures will fluctuate between 23 and 29 degrees Celsius during the day.

The yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale and is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather conditions.

IPMA forecasts for today on the mainland mostly cloudy or clear skies, fog or mist in some locations on the North and Central coast, light wind, suspended dust and rising temperatures.
