The temporary advisory against bathing at the beaches of Codixeira, Lagoa and South Urban Zone II, in Póvoa de Varzim, was lifted on Thursday, September 3, after the water quality analysis results confirmed the return to normal levels.
The information was communicated by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), through the North Hydrographic Region Administration. Water samples taken on August 31 at the three bathing areas showed results in compliance with the legally defined limit values.
The advisory had been issued in recent days due to microbiological parameters that led authorities to recommend that swimming be avoided until new laboratory results were obtained. With the lifting of the restriction, the three bathing areas are once again officially suitable for bathing.
The measure is good news for residents and visitors who continue to frequent the Póvoa coastline at this final stretch of the summer season.
