Alentejo under yellow warning Thursday and Friday due to heat

SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 18:42

Eleven districts of mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning on Thursday and Friday due to the forecast hot weather, with high maximum temperature values. The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) is the body responsible for issuing this weather warning.

The districts covered by the yellow warning include Bragança, Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisbon, Beja and Castelo Branco, among others. The Alentejo region is specifically mentioned as one of the areas affected by this heat situation.

The yellow warning is the lowest danger level on the weather warning scale used by IPMA, but it still indicates conditions that require attention and precaution on the part of the population.

This hot weather situation occurs in the context of a heat wave affecting mainland Portugal, leading authorities to recommend protective measures such as adequate hydration and avoiding sun exposure during the hottest hours.
