Eleven districts in mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning on Thursday due to intense heat. The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) issued this warning to alert the population to the expected high temperatures.
Maximum temperatures should reach 42 degrees in various regions of the country. The heat will be particularly intense in the interior and in various areas of the mainland territory.
The south coast of the Algarve constitutes the exception to this extreme heat scenario. In this region, temperature increases will be less significant, essentially occurring on Thursday with an increase of only 5 to 6 degrees compared to previous days.
This yellow warning indicates a risk situation for vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and children, with prevention measures recommended such as adequate hydration and avoidance of sun exposure during the hottest hours.
