September arrives and brings new heat wave to Portugal: Thermometers can reach 42º in the coming days

SAPO Notícias1 September 2026 at 06:10

September arrived in Portugal with a significant change in weather conditions. After a week in which the country experienced cooler temperatures and clearly autumnal conditions, thermometers are now preparing for a new rise.

Mainland Portugal is about to face a new heat wave. According to weather forecasts, temperatures can reach 42 degrees in the coming days.

This sudden change in weather marks the abrupt end of the period of cooler weather that was felt during the previous week, when meteorological characteristics were typical of autumn.
