European cities are on the "front line" of the climate crisis and its impact on public health, according to a study released today. The document warns that climate-related risks are increasing especially in the south of the European continent. IPMA: New Studies Reveal Climate Trends for the Future

The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) announced the strengthening of the meteorological observation network in the Atlantic through the VOS Portugal Programme, which uses voluntary ships to collect meteorological and oceanographic data. European Automatic Weather Stations (EUCAWS Neptune) are already installed on several ships, including the N.I. Mário Ruivo and three national merchant vessels. The data collected on routes between mainland Portugal, the Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde are automatically transmitted to the Global Telecommunication System of the World Meteorological Organization. The programme aims to improve weather forecasts and contribute to the understanding of maritime climate, with the collaboration of Transinsular.
