Eleven districts will be under yellow warning on Thursday due to hot weather, including Bragança, Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisbon, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre. The warning, the least severe on a three-tier scale, will be in effect between 10:00 and 19:00 on Thursday.
Maximum temperatures will rise 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in some locations from Wednesday, potentially reaching 40 to 42 degrees in the Tagus Valley, Beira Baixa and Alentejo. On Thursday, the maximum temperature will be between 34 and 38 degrees across most of the territory, while on the Coastal Strip values will be slightly lower, ranging between 25/26 and 30/31 degrees.
Due to the hot weather, the rural fire danger will be very high on Thursday across most of the territory, with some municipalities at maximum danger. Dust from North Africa is also likely in the southernmost regions.
For today, IPMA forecasts partly cloudy or clear skies, with morning cloudiness in the North and Centre, sometimes strong winds on the west coast and in the highlands, and a slight rise in minimum temperatures in the North and Centre. Minimum temperatures will range between 12 degrees in Bragança and Guarda and 18 degrees in Faro, while maximum temperatures will vary between 22 degrees in Aveiro and 32 degrees in Castelo Branco.
