A Walk for Peace and Creation will take place on October 4th in Câmara de Lobos, an initiative promoted within the scope of the "Living Water – Time of Creation 2026" program, with the motto "Steps for Peace". The walk takes place on the day when the Church celebrates Saint Francis of Assisi, a saint particularly associated with fraternity, peace and care for our common home, and is also part of the celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the Transit of Saint Francis of Assisi, commemorated between 1226 and 2026.
The program begins at 9:30am with gathering at Jardim de São Francisco, followed by a walk of approximately 2.2 kilometers to the Convent of São Bernardino. For people with reduced mobility, the organization offers an alternative through a virtual walk at the Convent, between 10:00am and 11:00am, ensuring that everyone can participate.
The central moment of the morning will be the celebration of the Eucharist at 11:30am, followed by a moment of fellowship, sharing and musical entertainment. With this initiative, the promoters intend to provide a moment of encounter and communion, alerting to the need to build a culture of peace and reinforcing the responsibility of each person in caring for creation.
Participation is free and open to all, with registration required via email at [email protected] or by phone at 912 344 454.
