Loulé City Council, through the Revista Al-'Ulyà of the Municipal Archive, is promoting the 4th edition of the Joaquim Romero Magalhães Research Prize. The biennial prize aims to distinguish research studies on the historical and cultural heritage of the municipality of Loulé, covering historical, archaeological and ethnographic approaches.

Candidates must send a copy of the submitted work to the email address [email protected] by May 15, 2027. The winning work will receive a monetary prize of 4000 euros and will have its first edition published by Revista Al-'Ulyà. The award ceremony is scheduled for November 21, 2027, a date that coincides with the anniversary of the journal's launch.

The Joaquim Romero Magalhães Prize was created to pay tribute to Professor and Historian Joaquim Romero Magalhães, author of a work considered "historical and remarkable," who was a promoter and disseminator of the historical documentation of Loulé's Municipal Archive. The Municipal Archive was renamed in his honor in 2021.
