Heat persists in the country with morning fog in the North and center

Hot weather will continue to characterize the Portuguese mainland, with mostly clear or partly cloudy skies in most regions of the country.

The North and Central regions will, however, have periods of greater cloudiness during the morning, with the possibility of mist or fog along the coast.

In Madeira, there is also the possibility of dust in suspension.

After several days of intense heat in Portugal, rain should return next week, mainly affecting the North and Central regions between Tuesday and Wednesday, with accumulations between 4 to 7 millimeters. The passage of this upper-level disturbance will bring a temporary drop in temperatures, with maximums dropping to around 25°C in Bragança and 27°C in Lisbon. However, from Thursday, a new mass of warm and stable air will make the thermometers rise again, with values that could locally reach 38°C in the district of Beja on Friday, 36°C in the Central interior and 35°C in the Tagus Valley, while the coast will remain milder.

IPMA places Alentejo under yellow warning due to hot weather

IPMA issued a yellow warning of hot weather for seven districts of mainland Portugal (Beja, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Setúbal and Portalegre) until 21:00 today, due to high maximum temperature values. The southern coast of Madeira island and Porto Santo were also placed under yellow warning. Minimum temperatures will range between 14°C and 24°C, while maximum temperatures are expected to reach 39°C in Évora, with mostly clear or clear skies and light or moderate wind on the mainland.
