The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere issued a hot weather warning for seven districts of mainland Portugal, valid until 21:00 today. Beja, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Setúbal and Portalegre are the districts covered by the warning, due to high maximum temperature values.
IPMA also placed the southern coast of Madeira island and Porto Santo under yellow warning due to the persistence of high maximum temperature values between 09:00 and 18:00 today. The yellow warning is the least severe of a three-level scale and is issued when there is a risk situation for activities dependent on meteorology.
Minimum temperatures on the mainland will range between 14 degrees in Braga and 24 degrees in Faro, while maximum temperatures vary between 25 degrees on the North coast and 39 degrees in Évora. IPMA forecasts continuation of hot weather with mostly clear or clear skies, light or moderate wind and a slight drop in minimum temperature in the interior.
In Madeira, temperatures will range between 22 and 29 degrees in Funchal and between 22 and 27 degrees in Porto Santo, with periods of very cloudy skies, light to moderate northeast wind and possibility of dust in suspension.
