IPMA places seven districts under yellow warning until 21:00 on Monday

The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) issued a yellow warning for hot weather for seven districts in mainland Portugal — Beja, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Setúbal and Portalegre — valid until 21:00 on Monday, due to the expected high maximum temperature values. The yellow warning, the least severe on a three-level scale, was also maintained until Saturday for 17 of the 18 mainland districts, with the exception of Viana do Castelo. Additionally, a yellow warning was issued for heavy rainfall and possibility of thunderstorm for the Western group of the Azores, in effect until 09:00.

Mostly clear or sunny skies are expected, although the north and central coast will have periods of very cloudy skies with morning fog and possibility of light rain or drizzle, extending to areas north of the Montejunto-Estrela system on September 9.
