According to the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), mainland Portugal should experience meteorological conditions close to the usual pattern for early September during the week of September 7 to 13, 2026, although high temperatures persist in the interior regions and dry weather conditions continue to predominate.
The maximum temperatures forecast for this week range between 32 and 37°C in general, while milder temperatures between 23 and 29°C are expected on the coast. The wind will blow predominantly from the northwest, weak, becoming moderate during the afternoon on the west coast.
Regarding precipitation, mostly clear or sunny skies are forecast for most regions. However, on the North and Central coast, the sky should be very cloudy at times, with fog until late morning and possibility of light rain or drizzle. On September 9, precipitation should extend to the regions located north of the Montejunto-Estrela system.
