The districts of Bragança and Vila Real are under yellow warning until 9:00 PM today, according to IPMA. On Friday, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere had issued yellow warnings for the districts of Bragança, Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Faro, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisboa, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Coimbra and Portalegre, valid until 7:00 PM on Saturday.
In the early afternoon today, IPMA updated the warnings, adding the districts of Porto, Aveiro and Braga to the list of regions under yellow alert.
In the districts of Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga, IPMA warns of the occurrence of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and wind gusts between 70 and 90 kilometres per hour. In the remaining covered districts, Évora, Faro, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisboa, Beja and Portalegre, the warnings are related to high values of maximum temperature.
The yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale and is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.
