Hourglass silhouette returns to fashion amid the era of weight-loss pens

oglobo5 September 2026 at 08:30

The hourglass silhouette is back in haute couture fashion, amid the popularity of GLP-1 analogs, the so-called weight-loss medications. The houses Armani Privé, Schiaparelli, Ashi Studio, and Standing Ground have bet on corsets and defined waists that extremely highlight feminine curves in their latest collections. This movement contrasts with the winter collections of Gucci, Mugler, and Roberto Cavalli, which are heading in a different aesthetic direction.

On the red carpet, actress Zendaya stood out by wearing a white dress with a sculpted bodice from Schiaparelli at the premiere of the film "The Odyssey." Another personality who drew attention was American lawyer and lobbyist Heather Podesta, an art collector, who chose a black model from the French maison that mimicked a horse saddle.

Stylist Flávia commented that fashion is going through a transition from the strong oversized moment to a silhouette that can showcase the results of the so-called weight-loss medications. For her, the return of the marked body represents a study of the female body that seeks to highlight curves intentionally.

Memories of Vilar de Mouros between the stage and the "blacksmith school of the region"

The Vilar de Mouros festival, one of the most significant musical events in Portugal, is remembered through José Maria de Barros, president of the local Parish Council, who was part of the stage electrical team in the 1980s when U2 and The Stranglers performed. A photography exhibition by Miguel Estima, a native of the village, recovers images from various editions of the event, focusing on the people and the transformation the village underwent during the festival. Estima experienced the festival since 1996 and holds memories of the Young Gods concert, while Barros recalls Joe Cocker's performance as the most memorable. The old Fontes workshop, which served as the "blacksmith school of the region," still preserves old machinery and is considered heritage that should not disappear.
