The Municipal Festivities of Vendas Novas kicked off on Friday and run until September 7, at the Fair and Market Park, a new venue chosen to enhance the capacity and scale of the event. The city is celebrating the 64th anniversary of its elevation to municipality, in a program that brings together tradition, gastronomy, culture, sports and music.

The inauguration ceremony featured the presence of the Secretary of State for Local Administration and Territorial Planning, Silvério Regalado, and the president of the Municipal Council of Vendas Novas, Ricardo Videira. The government official highlighted that Vendas Novas has a history very much linked to military and railway life, considering that the city can take on a reference role in the national context.

Mayor Ricardo Videira highlighted the privileged location of the municipality, stating that Vendas Novas benefits from the best of both worlds: the peace and tranquility of the Alentejo, as well as proximity to Lisbon. The municipality has planned projects such as a municipal subdivision with 36 land plots for housing, street paving, requalification of a preschool and rehabilitation of the Sociocultural Center.

The bifana takes a central role in the festivities, with the preparation of the world's largest bifana, measuring 20 meters in length. The venue features four traditional food restaurants and six bifana houses. In music, Bárbara Tinoco, Miguel Gameiro & Pólo Norte and Marisa Liz take to the stage. Entry is free.
