Four municipalities in the Alto Mondego region - Nelas, Mangualde, Fornos de Algodres and Gouveia - have jointly created the tourism project "Expresso do Alto Mondego". The initiative aims to boost the region through a tourist circuit that uses trains as the main means of transport.
The project has the partnership of CP - Comboios de Portugal, which provides the railway services, and also involves private operators who participate in the operationalization of the initiative.
The "Expresso do Alto Mondego" emerges as a territory promotion strategy, intending to attract visitors through an experience that combines the natural and cultural heritage of the region with the train journey.
The four municipalities involved work together to boost the local tourism offer, hoping that the project will contribute to the economic development of the interior region of the country.
