Alentejo among the hottest regions in the country from Thursday onwards

Heat intensifies again in mainland Portugal this week, with a significant rise in temperatures and increased risk of rural fire. Alentejo is among the hottest regions in the country from Thursday onwards.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) placed 11 districts under yellow warning due to hot weather on Thursday. The districts covered are Bragança, Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisbon, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre. The alert will be in effect between 10:00 and 19:00.

From Wednesday onwards, maximum temperatures will rise by 10 degrees, contributing to conditions conducive to rural fires. The yellow warning indicates moderate risk of sun exposure and conditions favorable to fire spread.
