Adverse weather conditions, specifically strong winds, caused severe disruptions to the operation of Madeira Airport during Saturday. In total, 17 arrivals and 14 departures were cancelled, significantly affecting passengers who intended to travel to or from the island.
In addition to cancelled flights, some aircraft were also diverted to other destinations, including Porto Santo, the Canary Islands, and Lisbon, as an alternative given the impossibility of landing or taking off at the Madeiran airport.
For this Sunday, weather forecasts point to a slight improvement in atmospheric conditions. However, wind is expected to continue conditioning the air operation at Madeira Airport tomorrow as well.
