Air operations at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo were severely affected throughout Saturday, December 14th, due to strong winds that again caused disruptions at the aerodrome. A total of 17 arrivals and 14 departures were cancelled by the end of the day.
In addition to cancelled flights, there were also aircraft that were diverted to other destinations, including Porto Santo, the Canary Islands and Lisbon, as a way of ensuring the safety of passengers during the adverse weather conditions.
For this Sunday, a slight improvement in weather conditions is forecast. However, wind should continue to affect the Madeiran airport's operations, although less intensely than the previous day.
Madeira Airport is known for its windy conditions, which frequently require changes to flight schedules, being a constant operational challenge for the airlines operating on the island.
