Centre and south of the country under yellow warning this weekend due to heat

Nine districts in the centre and south of mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning on Saturday and Sunday due to heat. The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) issued this weather warning today for the affected regions.

The warning issued by IPMA is due to "persistence of high values of maximum temperature". This means that abnormally high maximum temperatures are expected for this time of year during the weekend.

The nine districts covered by the yellow warning are Évora, Santarém, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Coimbra and Portalegre. All these districts are located in the centre and south of the country.
