Cachaça Day, celebrated on Sunday (September 13), gains a series of events throughout the city of Rio de Janeiro. The drink, known by various popular names such as pinga, aguardente, caninha, marvada and branquinha, is a cane distillate typical of Brazil.
Starting Friday, Cadeg, in Benfica, becomes a meeting point for enthusiasts of the distillate. The fair "Cachaças do Rio — Histories and flavors" brings together exhibitors, tastings, product sales and daily workshops at 1 PM. The programming runs from Friday to Sunday, from 11 AM to 4 PM.
On Saturday, cachaça also takes to the streets. Jurema Bar, located on lively Morais e Vale, in Lapa, promotes the first edition of an event starting at 12 PM to celebrate the drink.
