The New Fairs of Ponte de Lima celebrate their bicentennial this year, completing 200 years of history and tradition. The festivities transform the town again into one of the main stages of popular culture in Alto Minho, a region where the event remains a cultural reference of great importance.
The president of CCDR-Norte, Álvaro Santos, is the guest of honor of the festivities. His presence is confirmed for this Saturday, September 12, when he will officially open the various activities scheduled within the bicentennial celebrations.
The program of the New Fairs includes several initiatives that reflect the rich cultural tradition of the Alto Minho region, keeping alive a celebration that over two centuries has become a landmark in the festive calendar of northern Portugal.
