Nine districts in the centre and south of mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning due to heat. The districts covered are Évora, Santarém, Setúbal, Lisboa, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Coimbra and Portalegre.
The yellow warning, which represents the lowest level of danger in meteorological alert systems, comes into force at 10:00 on Saturday and extends until 17:00 on Sunday.
This meteorological situation mainly affects the central and southern regions of the country, where high temperatures are expected during the weekend.
The authorities recommend caution to the population of these regions, especially more vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children, during the period the warning is in effect.
