Different points in the city of Rio de Janeiro were hit by rain showers around 10am on a Thursday. According to the Alerta Rio System, there were reports of rain in neighborhoods in the North, Southwest, and West Zones of the city. Residents of Copacabana, in the South Zone, and people passing through the Downtown area also reported precipitation that, according to them, reached heavy intensity.
The city's Operations and Resilience Center (COR) published a series of recommendations to be adopted on days of intense rain. Among the guidelines are staying in a safe place and avoiding flooded areas, as well as not walking in flooded regions due to the danger of strong currents, injuries from objects, falls into potholes under the water, and risk of diseases in case of contact with contaminated water.
