The Urology department of ULS do Alto Ave presented nine scientific papers at a European robotic surgery congress, reflecting the growth in clinical, surgical, and scientific activity in the field of robotic surgery applied to the treatment of urological diseases, particularly of an oncological nature.
Two of the nine selected papers result from an international collaboration with Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico, in Rome, considered one of the reference institutions in this specialty. This partnership allows comparison of results, discussion of complex surgical techniques, and the development of joint approaches.
The presented papers address the optimization of oncological and functional outcomes in prostate and kidney surgeries, the use of robotic techniques in complex procedures, and the evaluation of surgical safety and efficiency, with the central objective of improving clinical outcomes for patients through safer and less invasive interventions.
The ULSAAVE team has also developed training strategies, outcome monitoring, and quality audits, considered fundamental to consolidate the safe and effective use of robotic technology in the context of the National Health Service.
