Scientists are beginning to worry about damages associated with popular supplements

extra10 September 2026 at 15:45

Scientists are expressing growing concerns about the potential harm of popular supplements, especially related to brain aging. According to information from the Washington Post, recent studies have indicated that certain supplements may do more harm than good for aging brains.

The central question that has been investigated is whether there is any difference in the effect of supplements between younger and older bodies. In January of this year, a study revealed a possible association between the use of vitamin D supplements and faster cognitive decline among older adults who already had normal vitamin D levels in the blood.

In April, a new study brought similar results. Adults aged 55 or older who took omega-3 supplements showed greater cognitive deterioration, raising doubts about the benefits traditionally attributed to these popular supplements.
