The city of Niterói has banned advertising for sports betting platforms and fixed-odds betting games, known as bets, in public spaces and outdoor advertising throughout the municipality. The measure was established by a decree signed by Mayor Rodrigo Neves and published on Wednesday (9).
The prohibition includes brands, business names, digital platforms, websites, and betting apps, as well as promotions, campaigns, bonuses, and prizes. Logos, symbols, mascots, slogans, and other elements that allow companies or platforms to be identified, directly or indirectly, are also banned.
Existing ads will have ten days to be removed or brought into compliance with the new rules. The measure applies to different outdoor advertising formats and the use of public spaces, also covering advertising campaigns in general.
