Pedro Sánchez, president of the Spanish Government, stated on Wednesday evening that, with the information available, "no one could have anticipated" the migratory crisis in Ceuta, "neither in Spain nor in the EU".
The Spanish leader's statement comes in response to warnings from CNI (Centro Nacional de Inteligência - National Intelligence Center) about the situation in Ceuta, which have been subject to public scrutiny.
Sánchez emphasized that the migratory crisis that affected the Spanish enclave in North Africa was unforeseeable, considering that neither Spanish nor European authorities had sufficient elements to anticipate the events.
This position from the president of the Government comes in a context of debate about the management of the migratory crisis and the possible failure of Spanish intelligence services.
