The Federal Police summoned the current president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, and the former president of the institution, Roberto Campos Neto, to give testimony as witnesses in connection with Operation Compliance Zero, which investigates an alleged financial fraud scheme involving Banco Master. Also set to be heard are the owner of BTG Pactual, André Esteves, and the BC's Supervision Director, Ailton Aquino.
The four names were mentioned during the testimony of former Central Bank director Paulo Sérgio Souza, who is being investigated for allegedly receiving bribes from banker Daniel Vorcaro to favor Master bank in the regulator's decisions. Souza denies the alleged irregularities.
As witnesses, the four summoned are required to tell the truth during their testimony to the PF. Former executive Paulo Sérgio Souza is one of the main targets of the investigation that examines whether former BC employees provided a kind of informal consulting to Vorcaro in exchange for financial advantages. The information was revealed by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo and confirmed by GLOBO.
