AGU says it received with 'satisfaction, respect and hope' Fachin's decision that kept the PF chief in office

The Office of the Attorney General released a note on Wednesday in which it stated it received with "satisfaction, respect and hope" the decision by the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Minister Edson Fachin, that kept the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, in office. Fachin suspended the previous rulings by Ministers André Mendonça and Flávio Dino on the issue.

Minister Fachin intervened directly in the dispute by stating that the successive decisions created an "irreconcilable conflict of judicial positions." He determined that the controversy should now be handled by the presidency of the Court.

In the note, the AGU declared that the decision "restores public and administrative order" and "reaffirms the exclusive constitutional prerogative of the president of the Republic to fill and vacate leadership positions of the Federal Police."

The text also stated that "the necessary conditions for the regular functioning of the Federal Police's activities have been restored, an institution essential to public security and the Democratic State."
