Fachin meets separately with Moraes and Dino and expands consultations with ministers on crisis at the STF

The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, met on Wednesday with ministers Alexandre de Moraes and Flávio Dino to discuss the crisis installed at the Court regarding the investigations into the Master case. The meetings occurred separately, according to reporting by O GLOBO newspaper.

In addition to in-person conversations, Fachin has been speaking by telephone with other Supreme Court members throughout the day. The Court president has been expanding internal consultations while evaluating which path to take to end the crisis and reduce the institutional wear caused by the dispute between the ministers.

The consultations are occurring at a time of growing pressure for Fachin to take charge of a solution for the crisis. Ministers privately assess that the delay in reaching a definition has prolonged the crisis and kept the court exposed to a succession of new episodes of tension.

This week, Fachin gained another front to manage after Minister André Mendonça ordered the removal of Andrei Rodrigues from the leadership of the Federal Police in the case.
