The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, kept the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, in office by suspending the decisions of ministers André Mendonça and Flávio Dino on the matter. Fachin intervened directly in the dispute between the two ministers.
In justifying his decision, Fachin stated that successive decisions created an "irreconcilable conflict of judicial positions." With this, he determined that the controversy should now be handled by the Presidency of the Court, centralizing the issue in his own hands.
