The mayor of the Municipality of Porto announced that the platform for registering heavy vehicle circulation on the Inner Ring Road (VCI) is in "final tests". The mayor revealed that the platform will be operational from September 15, when the ban on heavy vehicle circulation on that road comes into force.
The municipality is finalizing preparations for the implementation of the heavy vehicle traffic control system on the VCI, one of the main highways crossing the city of Porto. The system will operate through a digital platform where heavy transport operators must complete their registrations.
The measure aims to regulate and restrict the circulation of large vehicles on a road that crosses densely populated urban areas. With the ban coming into force, only heavy vehicles duly registered on the platform will be allowed to circulate on the VCI during the established period.
The announcement comes at a time of preparation for the implementation of the new circulation rules, with the municipality hoping that the registration system will be fully functional before the deadline of September 15.
