Right-wing presidential candidates echoed on Wednesday the developments of the crisis at the Supreme Federal Court (STF), after Minister Flávio Dino decided to suspend the removal of the Federal Police (PF) Director-General, Andrei Rodrigues. The measure had been ordered by his fellow Court member André Mendonça the previous day.
Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) was among those who criticized Dino's decision. On social media, the politician stated that STF ministers had already "crossed all limits" and that Dino's posture would be even more serious. "He became emperor of Brazil and blew up legal security. Dictatorship of the Robe, no!" Caiado wrote.
Romeu Zema (Novo) also criticized Dino's decision and reiterated support for Mendonça. The governor of Minas Gerais expressed indignation with what he called the "Brazil of the untouchables," referring to Andrei Rodrigues' return to the position amid the dispute between the Court's ministers.
The crisis at the STF involves a conflict between the Court's ministers, with questions about each one's jurisdiction to determine measures related to the Federal Police, generating concerns about institutional functioning and the independence of the branches of government.
