The Algarve Regional Section of the Order of Architects promotes, on September 18 and 19, the 3rd edition of the International Architecture Days of the Algarve (JIAA), which take place at the Municipal Theatre António Pinheiro, in Tavira. The event is free and open to the public, but requires prior confirmation through the organizer's email.
For two days, architects, jurists, academics, magistrates and other specialists will debate topics related to the practice of architecture, combining reflection on the discipline with recent legislative changes that have been modifying project, licensing and construction processes in Portugal.
The 2026 edition opens with an international component dedicated to the work and legacy of Oscar Niemeyer, proposing a reflection on the relevance of his thinking today. The program also addresses recent changes to the legal framework for architecture and urban planning, namely those introduced by the Urban Simplex, analyzing their respective effects on architects' activity and on territorial transformation.
On the second day, the conference dedicates particular attention to the new regulatory framework resulting from Portaria no. 320/2026, with analysis of the new documentary and procedural requirements. A toolkit with instruments to support daily professional practice will also be presented. The JIAA has Viroc as official partner, Forbo as partner, and count on the institutional support of the Municipality of Tavira.
