The main European stock exchanges opened lower today, pressured by rising oil. At 09:05 in Lisbon, the EuroStoxx 600 was down 0.57% to 646.17 points.
The declines were widespread across the main European markets. The stock exchanges in London, Paris and Frankfurt fell 0.20%, 0.84% and 0.55%, while those in Madrid and Milan fell 1.07% and 0.52%, respectively.
The pressure on the markets comes after shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz was again affected due to attacks on oil tankers by Tehran and Washington.
On the Madrid stock exchange, textile company Inditex was one of the worst hit, with a decline of 2.79%.
