The Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation Agency (AICIB) will assume, from 2026, the coordination of the European network TRANSCAN-4, which is dedicated to cancer research. This coordination represents a new challenge for the Portuguese agency in the European context.
In parallel, AICIB will also renew the leadership of ECHoS, another European initiative in the oncological area. Both networks focus on cancer research and are part of the European research networks landscape in this area.
The combined funding of the two networks exceeds 20 million euros, which reflects the dimension and importance of these initiatives for the cancer research sector in Europe.
With these appointments, AICIB reinforces its international leadership role in the coordination of European biomedical and clinical research networks.
