A 2.5 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was felt on São Miguel island, in the Azores. The tremor was recorded at 1:44 PM local time, which corresponds to 2:44 PM in Lisbon.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately four kilometers west of Furnas, belonging to the municipality of Povoação, in the eastern zone of São Miguel island.

The seismic event was felt by the local population, although the relatively low magnitude suggests it did not cause significant damage. The Regional Service for Civil Protection and Emergency Management of the Azores monitored the situation following the occurrence of the phenomenon.
